Edgewater is on the lakefront and located about 7 miles North of the Loop a lakefront community area on the North Side of the city of Chicago, Illinois seven miles north of the Loop. Edgewater is bounded by Foster Avenue on the South, Devon Avenue on the North, Ravenswood Avenue on the West, and Lake Michigan on the East. Edgewater contains several beaches for residents to enjoy year round. Chicago's largest park, Lincoln Park, stretches south from Edgewater, along the waterfront, almost to downtown. Accessible by the Red Line, as well as several bus lines, Edgewater was once a playground for the city's elite, and is peppered with mansions and large single family homes mingling with the high rises.
